    modesto is lame.

    People gotta take more initiative to ride. Then again, Modesto isn't a big city (500,000+) which explains why there aren't many peeps who ride. It isn't urbanized enough to constitute riding to work/school just to beat the traffic. Our roads are wide, and distances between home/school/work are usually farther than in San Jose or SF.

    my bike is my only transportation when i see other riders i give them the friendly nod 85% are cool i get snobed by mostly fixters .....whats up wit dat .....its what you make of it ,not what it is

    san jose isn't the best place to ride either. 2 people died this past week riding bikes here. one death happened in an intersection i happened to ride through 10 minutes before the incident. it's dangerous out in suburbia

    I think the question or title of the thread is valid. Is it due to larger population of people in other cities? Maybe the people are raised to be outside more? Non the less Modesto isn't that bad. It will receive a surge of attention and money from the cycling world when the tour of California goes through. So that will be good. Just encourage more to ride and stay positive.

    honestly, modesto is thee shit compared to SOME areas in SF. scarryy as fuck in a few areas, not for me, gays and cross dressers, crazyy tweakers, not the funnest placee...it is fun though in a lot of places in SF, but i think Modesto is prettyy well rounded and aint that bad....
