Jared, I'd seen that guy's bike when I was first frequenting velospace... if I remember right the owner/rider of the bike did that stem/brake setup himself. Super sweet. All in all that bike was really classy, and that work he did cleaned up the front of the bike a lot.

as you can see a bike without chain, fork, or spokes, supposedly it has an automatic transmission which is switched on (automatically duh!) while your climbing. Pedals give the movement to wheels trough a transmission that's in the frame. Most importantly brakeless and fixed!
